A unique prehistoric monument in the centre of Northumberland

 A 4 tonne stone with a hole through the centre 1.7m long and 50 - 80mm wide

The hole is lined up exactly on the summer solstice sunset and the winter solstice sunrise

This holed stone lies at the centre of a rough circle of stones including viewing points for observing the solstice sun through the hole

There are further alignments to the equinox sunrise and the north cardinal point

One of the nearby stones has what appears to be a partially constructed hole that may indicate how the hole in the Central Holed Stone was made
